We have an update on blood testing services provided by Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. Blood tests can be booked on the ‘Blood tests during Covid-19’ page on the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS site.
Due to national supply chain issues causing a temporary shortage in blood testing chemicals earlier this month, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust was forced to cancel routine blood test clinics on the 8th, 9th 12th and 13th of October. They have been contacting the patients affected by this to reschedule their appointments and will have completed this process by Friday the 6th of November.
All blood testing services have been running normally since the 13th of October. They have been providing over 1,000 tests a day and are putting on additional weekend clinics from Saturday 30th October.
The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust have continued to improve their central booking system, which was introduced over the summer to meet Covid-19 infection control guidelines and prevent over-crowding in their clinics. They now have increased the number of call handers from 6 to 20. They introduced the latest call centre technology on Thursday the 29th of October, so that patients do not get cut off when waiting for an operator. The Trust will continue to review these arrangements to ensure that they meet the demand for blood testing service.
